My domain name is not working

Checklist

  1. Have you connected your domain name to PagePicnic? If not, get started by ordering a subscription. You will then recieve all the information you need.
  2. When you sent an e-mail to your former provider, are you sure that they changed your domain preferences?
  3. Moving a domain name may take up to 48 hours. Make sure to wait a couple of days if your domain name is not working.

Speeding up the domain name change

Clearing your DNS data can accelerate the domain process. Note that this only will make your domain name available in your browser, and not for other visitors to your website.

 

In Windows

  1. Click the Start-button
  2. Windows 7: Enter "ipconfig /flushdns" in the Search program and files field (See a picture of this step)
    Windows XP: Click "Run" and enter "ipconfig /flushdns" (See a picture of this step)
  3. Press Enter to run the command.
  4. Try to access the website once again. Please note that it still may take a while, sometimes several hours, before your website will work.

On Mac

  1. Open the "Terminal" application in the "Tools" folder.
  2. Mac OS X 10.5 and later: enter "dscacheutil -flushcache"
    Mac OS X 10.4 and earlier: enter "lookupd -flushcache"
  3. Press Enter to run the command.
  4. Try to access the website once again. Please note that it still may take a while, sometimes several hours, before your website will work.
